How Ocean City plans to control troublemaking teens this summer

🚔 The playbook to keep unruly kids in check

The summer is almost here. And the Ocean City Police are ready to prevent rowdy teenagers from disrupting it around town.

Chief Bill Campbell said his department will double its manpower with 65 seasonal officers backing up his 68 full-timers starting on Memorial Day weekend. It is part of his plan to “saturate” the streets from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. and deter mayhem and mischief. Full-timers will also work overtime on the Friday and Saturday of Memorial Day and Fourth of July weekends and a new $6.1 million police substation will open on the boardwalk this summer. Other strategies will be deployed as well.

The moves come a year after a stabbing incident marred Memorial Day weekend in town.
